Pakistani citizens need a short-stay Schengen visa (type C) to visit Slovakia. Since 5 December 2011 the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Islamabad has represented Slovakia in Pakistan for short-stay Schengen visas, under an agreement between the two governments. Since 1 February 2025, residents of Pakistan may also apply for this visa at the Embassy of Slovakia in Tehran, which handles Slovak long-stay visas and residence. In Islamabad every applicant needs a confirmed appointment, obtained free of charge through a monthly email registration.

Slovakia, known for Bratislava’s castle above the Danube and the peaks of the High Tatras, belongs to the Schengen area, so Pakistani travellers need a short-stay type C visa before they go. There is no Slovak visa desk in Pakistan. Under an intergovernmental agreement, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Islamabad has handled Slovak short-stay Schengen visas since 5 December 2011.

A second option opened on 1 February 2025, when residents of Pakistan became able to lodge the same short-stay application at the Embassy of Slovakia in Tehran. That Tehran mission also handles Slovak long-stay visas and residence permits. For most Pakistani visitors, though, Islamabad remains the practical choice, and the Czech Embassy confirms that Pakistani nationals can apply there for either Czech or Slovak short-term visas.

Getting a slot is the hard part. The Embassy opens a single email registration on the last working day of each month, between noon and 6 pm Pakistan time, at islamabad.schengen@mzv.gov.cz. A randomised system picks applicants up to the section’s capacity, listed as 10 Schengen slots a week. The next windows are 30 October, 30 November and 31 December 2026.

Follow the format exactly. Put only your passport number in the subject, list your name, purpose, travel dates and phone number in the body, and attach a PDF of your passport data page. One email per person is allowed, except for families. If no date arrives within about 14 days, the registration did not succeed. Appointments are free, and the Embassy works with no paid agents.

At the appointment, bring the application form, insurance, proof of funds and accommodation and evidence that you will return home. The standard Schengen fee is 90 euros for adults and 45 euros for children aged 6 to 12. Decisions usually take 15 days but may take up to 45, so register well ahead; an assigned date cannot be moved.

FAQ

Do Pakistanis need a visa for Slovakia?

Yes. Pakistani passport holders need a short-stay Schengen visa (type C) to visit Slovakia as tourists, visitors or business travellers.

Where do Pakistanis apply for a Slovak Schengen visa?

At the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Islamabad, which has represented Slovakia for short-stay Schengen visas since 5 December 2011. Since 1 February 2025 the Embassy of Slovakia in Tehran also accepts these applications from residents of Pakistan.

How do I get an appointment for Slovakia in Islamabad?

Send one registration email to islamabad.schengen@mzv.gov.cz during the monthly window on the last working day, from 12:00 to 18:00 Pakistan time. Slots are drawn by a randomised system.

Your passport number alone in the subject line; your full name, visa type and purpose, planned arrival and departure dates and phone number in the body; and a PDF scan of your passport data page, under 10 MB.

What gets an email disqualified?

Wrong subject format, missing attachments, several applicants in one email (other than a family), repeat emails, messages outside the window, and senders who block reply receipts.

Do I pay for the appointment?

No. Appointments are free, and the Embassy says it does not work with any third-party appointment sellers.

How much is the visa fee?

Under the Schengen rules the fee is 90 euros for adults and 45 euros for children aged 6 to 12. Confirm the current amount with the Czech Embassy.

How long does a decision take?

At the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Tehran, which processes Slovak long-stay visas and residence applications for Pakistan.

How many Schengen appointments does the Embassy offer?

The Czech Embassy lists a capacity of 10 short-term (Schengen) visa slots per week.
