Pakistani citizens need a short-stay Schengen visa (type C) to visit Latvia. Latvia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a list updated on 25 June 2026, names the Embassy of Germany in Islamabad and the Consulate General of Germany in Karachi as the missions that issue visas for Latvia in Pakistan. Which one you use depends on your province. Registration for an appointment is online and free through the German waiting-list systems. German missions represent Latvia only for stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period, so a long-stay Latvian visa needs a Latvian mission.
Riga’s Art Nouveau streets and Latvia’s pine-lined Baltic beaches are reached on a Schengen short-stay visa, which Pakistani citizens must hold before travel. Latvia keeps no visa office in Pakistan. Its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a list last updated on 25 June 2026, names two German missions as the places that issue Latvian visas here.
Those are the Embassy of Germany in Islamabad and the Consulate General of Germany in Karachi. The split follows your province: the German pages assign Islamabad Capital Territory, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab to Islamabad, and Sindh and Balochistan to Karachi. Both missions run an online waiting list rather than direct booking, and a place on it costs nothing.
Latvia’s own checklist is short and clear. Bring a passport no older than ten years with two empty pages and three months of validity after you leave the Schengen area, a signed application form, one colour photo of 35 by 45 millimetres and medical insurance valid across the Schengen states. Add papers on purpose, accommodation and your plans to return home.
Money matters too. Latvia asks visitors to show at least EUR 14 per day for a stay of up to 30 days, or not less than EUR 780 for a longer visit. The standard Schengen fee is 90 euros for adults and 45 euros for children aged 6 to 12; confirm the exact amount and any service charge with the German mission handling your file.
The German missions quote about 14 calendar days for a decision, with longer waits in peak season, and accept applications up to six months before a trip. Complete the VIDEX online form and bring its barcode page to speed up the counter. Remember that Germany handles only short stays for Latvia; work or study visas need a Latvian embassy.

FAQ
Do Pakistanis need a visa for Latvia?
Yes. A Pakistani passport holder needs a short-stay Schengen visa (type C) for a tourist, family or business visit to Latvia.
Which embassy issues Latvian visas in Pakistan?
Germany. Latvia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists the Embassy of Germany in Islamabad and the Consulate General of Germany in Karachi as the missions issuing visas to enter Latvia.
Do I apply in Islamabad or Karachi?
It depends on where you live. The German Embassy in Islamabad serves Islamabad Capital Territory, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab; the Consulate General in Karachi serves Sindh and Balochistan.
How do I get an appointment?
Register online on the German mission’s waiting list. Registration is free, one registration per person is allowed, and the mission emails you once an appointment has been set.
Do I need an agent?
No. The German missions warn that registration is free of charge and that anyone asking for money to secure a place on the waiting list is a fraudster.
How much money must I show for Latvia?
At least EUR 14 for each day if you stay up to 30 days, and at least EUR 780, the Latvian minimum monthly wage, for a longer stay.
How much is the visa fee?
The European Commission sets the Schengen fee at 90 euros for adults and 45 euros for children aged 6 to 12. Visa centre charges may be added, so confirm the total with the German mission.
How long does processing take?
About 14 calendar days from the application day, according to the German missions in Pakistan, and longer in some cases or at busy times.
Can I get a long-stay Latvian visa from the German Embassy?
