If you hold a Pakistani passport and Italy is your main short-stay destination, the italy visit visa requirements for pakistan path is different from France or Germany. Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAECI) runs the Visa for Italy portal, while lodging in Pakistan is outsourced to BLS-Intiana under two separate consular jurisdictions: the Embassy of Italy in Islamabad and the Consulate General of Italy in Karachi. This guide explains which centre you must use, how appointments work, documents, the published EU fee and decision window, and official links only.

Who needs an Italy visit visa?

Italy is a Schengen State. Pakistani nationals need a Schengen Short-Stay Visa (Type C) for tourism and other short visits. A uniform short-stay visa can cover stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period across Schengen, within the sticker’s conditions.

You must apply to the Schengen country that is your main destination (longest stay) or, if stays are equal, the country of first entry. For an Italy-focused trip, use the Italian channel—not a France or Germany VAC.

Italy has no visa-free entry for Pakistani passports: you need a Schengen short-stay visa and must apply before travel.

VisitVisaInfo shares general information from official government and embassy sources. We are not a government agency, visa centre, or law firm, and we do not lodge applications or give legal advice. Always re-check the official page before you book or apply.

Consular jurisdictions in Pakistan (Islamabad vs Karachi)

Italy splits Pakistan into two territories. The Italian missions state clearly that you may submit only at the BLS centre competent for the place where you have permanent residence:

Embassy of Italy in Islamabad — centres

Per the Embassy’s Where to apply for a visa page (updated mid-2026), BLS-Intiana centres under Islamabad’s jurisdiction include:

  1. Islamabad
  2. Lahore
  3. Multan
  4. Faisalabad

These centres typically serve applicants permanently residing in the northern and central area covered by the Embassy (including Punjab, KP, and northern territories as described on the BLS/Intiana booking pages—confirm your city against the live jurisdiction map before booking).

Consulate General of Italy in Karachi — centres

Per the Consulate’s Where to apply for a visa page, centres under Karachi’s jurisdiction include:

  1. Karachi
  2. Quetta

These serve residents of Sindh and Balochistan. The Consulate notes that it does not receive ordinary visa applicants at its own counter; all tourist/business short-stay lodging goes through the designated BLS-Intiana centres.

Applying in the wrong jurisdiction can delay or block lodging—match your permanent residence to the correct mission before you pay any centre fee.

How Pakistanis apply: Visa for Italy + BLS-Intiana

1. Check requirements on Visa for Italy (MAECI). Open the official Visa for Italy portal (MAECI). Enter citizenship, country of residence, length of stay, and purpose. The wizard tells you whether a visa is required, which documents Italy expects for that purpose, and which Italian mission is competent. For short-stay tourism, you are steered toward a Type C Schengen application.

MAECI also maintains an e-application path for short-stay files in many posts: complete online, print, and submit in person at the VAC—do not treat the online form alone as a lodged application.

2. Book a BLS-Intiana appointment. Appointment management and collection of visa applications in Pakistan are entrusted to BLS-Intiana, under supervision of the Embassy or Consulate. Book only through the Intiana / BLS Italy Pakistan appointment portals linked from the embassy and consulate pages (including waitlist modules when slots are full). Centres commonly offer short-stay categories such as tourism, business, visiting family and friends, medical, cultural/sports, and study—pick the category that matches your purpose.

BLS/Intiana charges a service fee on top of the Schengen visa fee. Amounts can change; check the live centre page for your city. (For some special categories such as certain EU-family appointments, missions have published a BLS service figure—always read the category page that matches your case.)

3. Lodge biometrics and documents at the centre. Attend your appointment with passport(s), photos, insurance, proof of funds, itinerary/accommodation, and any Italy-specific forms listed by MAECI or BLS for tourism. Fingerprints are taken at lodging unless an exemption applies (including reuse within 59 months under Visa Code practice). The Embassy or Consulate—not BLS—decides the visa.

Documents checklist (Italy / EU baseline)

Start from the MAECI wizard list for tourism, then add anything the Islamabad or Karachi BLS checklist requires for Pakistani residents. EU short-stay baseline:

  1. Valid passport (typically valid at least 3 months after planned departure from Schengen; enough blank pages)
  2. Completed Schengen / Italy visa application form (print e-application where used)
  3. ICAO-compliant passport photo
  4. Travel medical insurance (emergency care, hospitalisation, repatriation)
  5. Proof of purpose, accommodation, financial means, and intention to return
  6. Biometrics at the BLS centre when required

Italy posts often emphasise residence proof for jurisdiction, detailed bank history, and invitations registered or formatted as the mission requires for family visits. Do not assume a France-Visas or German Videx packet is interchangeable.

Fees (published)

From the European Commission’s harmonised short-stay schedule (check the live page before you pay):

  1. Adults: €90
  2. Children aged 6–12: €45 (where that band applies)
  3. BLS-Intiana service fees are extra—confirm on the official Italy VAC page for your city

Approval or refusal rates for Pakistani applicants to Italy are not officially published as a Pakistan-specific figure, so ignore agent 'approval guarantees'.

How long does an Italy visit visa take?

Official EU rules:

  1. Apply as early as 6 months before travel, and at least 15 days before the intended journey
  2. Normal decision: about 15 days; may extend to 45 days

High demand for tourist, business, and study files in Pakistan means appointment wait at BLS-Intiana can be longer than the decision window itself—use the official waitlist when direct slots are unavailable, and never pay unofficial “fixers” for fake appointments.

Where to apply (official links)

You will leave VisitVisaInfo for an official government or designated VAC website.
