Under Tuvalu's Immigration Regulations 2014, the Principal Immigration Officer may issue any visitor a visitors permit for a stay of up to 30 days. Citizens of countries listed in Schedule 1 pay nothing, while everyone else, including Pakistani passport holders, pays a fee of $100 unless the Minister waives it. The standard permit does not allow work, business, study or proselytising.
Tuvalu is one of the smallest and most remote countries in the world, a chain of nine low-lying atolls in the central Pacific between Hawaii and Australia. Most visitors stay on Funafuti, where the lagoon, the Funafuti Conservation Area and the quiet village life are the main draws.
The country does not require Pakistanis to arrange a visa before travel. Under the Immigration Regulations 2014, the Principal Immigration Officer may issue any visitor a visitors permit for up to 30 days, on terms the officer sets.
A fee applies to Pakistani passport holders. Citizens of the countries in Schedule 1 of the regulations pay nothing, but everyone else pays $100, payable in Australian dollars, unless the Minister waives it. Pakistan is not among the Schedule 1 countries.
The standard permit is for visiting only. It rules out work, business, study and proselytising. If you are coming for a conference, training or other professional work, ask for a business endorsement, which costs another A$100 and allows up to 30 days.
Stays can be extended once by up to 30 days for A$100, or A$200 if business is involved. Because most routes connect through Fiji, carry your onward ticket and hotel booking, and check Fiji's own rules for your connection.

Quick answers
FAQ
Do Pakistanis need a visa for Tuvalu?
Not in advance. Tuvalu issues visitors a visitors permit for up to 30 days. Pakistani passport holders are not in the fee-exempt Schedule 1, so they pay A$100 for the permit.
How much does the visitors permit cost?
A$100 for citizens of countries outside Schedule 1, which includes Pakistan. The Minister can waive the fee, but you should expect to pay it.
How long can I stay?
Up to 30 days. The Principal Immigration Officer can extend the permit for up to another 30 days.
How much is an extension?
A$100 if you are not working or doing business, or A$200 if you are.
Can I attend meetings or a workshop?
Yes, with a special business endorsement on the visitors permit, which costs A$100 on top of the standard fee. The regulations count conferences, training sessions, professional services and exploratory business talks as business activities.
Can I work or study on a visitors permit?
No. The standard permit bars employment, business activity, study and proselytising. Longer stays need a permit to enter and reside.
Which countries are exempt from the fee?
Schedule 1 lists, among others, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, the Maldives, Kenya, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu, South Korea, Norway and Switzerland. Pakistan is not on it.
How do I get to Tuvalu?
Most routes to Funafuti connect through Fiji. Check Fiji's transit rules for your Pakistani passport as well, since you will change planes there.
What is a permit to enter and reside?
It is the regulations' route for longer or purpose-specific stays, such as work, family reunion or cultural and religious activity, and it has separate fees and an application process.
What currency is the fee in?
The regulations state the fee as $100. Tuvalu uses the Australian dollar, so plan to pay A$100.
Is there an e-visa for Tuvalu?
The regulations describe a visitors permit issued by the Principal Immigration Officer, not an online visa. No e-visa system is set out, so you deal with immigration when you arrive at Funafuti.
Can the officer refuse a permit?
Yes. The regulations say the Principal Immigration Officer may issue a permit on the terms and conditions the officer thinks fit, so entry is at the officer's discretion. Have your travel plans and bookings ready to show.
My spouse holds a UK passport. Do we pay the same?
No. The United Kingdom is in Schedule 1, so a British citizen pays no visitors permit fee, while a Pakistani citizen pays A$100. Each traveller follows the rule for their own passport.
Are there fees for dependants on longer permits?
For some permits to enter and reside, such as family reunion or cultural and religious purposes, the regulations charge A$100 for the main applicant and A$50 for each dependant.
Is there an official refusal rate?
No. Tuvalu does not publish approval or refusal figures for Pakistani visitors.
