Pakistani passport holders do not need to apply for a Maldives visa in advance. Maldives Immigration grants a tourist visa on arrival without pre-approval if you meet the entry rules. Check the current stay length and any charges on the official tourist visa page. You need a passport valid for at least 1 month, a return ticket, a prepaid booking at a registered facility, enough funds, and the free IMUGA Traveller Declaration submitted within 96 hours before you land.
The Maldives is one of the few long-haul holidays where a Pakistani green passport needs no visa application at all. Maldives Immigration says tourists of all nationalities get a tourist visa on arrival without pre-approval. The only exception is Israeli passports, which have been refused entry since 15 April 2025. The visa is granted at the port of entry after an immigration officer checks that you meet the entry requirements. Check the current stay length on the official Maldives Immigration tourist visa page.
The entry checks are short but strict. Your passport must have a machine-readable zone and at least one month's validity. Maldives Immigration says passports with an extended validity are not accepted, so a renewed booklet is safer than an old one with a handwritten extension. You need a complete itinerary with a confirmed return ticket. You also need a prepaid, confirmed booking at a registered facility, meaning a resort, hotel or guesthouse registered with the authorities, and enough money for your stay. Alternatively, you can hold a sponsorship approved by Maldives Immigration. You must also meet the entry rules of your next destination.
Every traveller must submit the IMUGA Traveller Declaration on imuga.immigration.gov.mv up to 96 hours (4 days) before arrival. It is free, so do not pay any website that charges for it. Each person needs their own declaration, including children and babies, and children must also travel on their own passport. If you are arriving from, or have recently travelled through, a country with a risk of yellow fever, bring your yellow fever vaccination certificate. Children under one year old are exempt.
Maldives Immigration is clear that a full itinerary does not guarantee entry. Under Sections 7 and 8 of the Immigration Act, officers decide at the port of entry whether you can enter. Have your hotel confirmation, return ticket and IMUGA submission ready, ideally printed. The rule asks for a prepaid, confirmed booking, so a reservation you have not paid for may not meet it.
If you fall in love with the islands and want to stay longer, you can extend. Maldives Immigration handles extensions for a fee. Since 23 April 2026, extensions have been handled through the IMUGA portal. You log in with your passport number, and the system fills in your passport and hotel details. You upload a passport-size photo taken within the last 12 months and update your accommodation if it has changed. Maldives Immigration says extension applications are now expected to be completed within 48 hours. Apply before the stay you were given on arrival ends. Maldives Immigration also reminds visa holders to follow the conditions of their permit and stay within the scope of the visa they were granted.
