Slovenia has no embassy in Pakistan, and its foreign ministry names Germany as the country that handles Slovenian short-stay visas here. If you live in Sindh or Balochistan, you apply at the German Consulate General in Karachi. Applicants from Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu & Kashmir go to the German Embassy in Islamabad. You receive a standard Schengen visa for up to 90 days in any 180, and the fee is €90 for adults or €45 for children aged 6 to 12, paid in rupees. Apply this way only if Slovenia is where you will spend most of your trip.
Slovenia fits a remarkable variety into a compact corner of Europe: the Julian Alps, Lake Bled with its church on a tiny islet, the caves at Postojna, a short strip of Adriatic coast and a relaxed capital, Ljubljana. It joined the Schengen zone in December 2007, so every Pakistani passport holder must obtain a short-stay Schengen visa before travelling there for tourism, family occasions or trade talks. That visa allows up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day window. Slovenia should be the country where you spend the largest share of your nights. If your days are evenly split, choose the country you enter first.
Travellers are often surprised that there is no Slovenian embassy anywhere in Pakistan. The Slovenian government's own website explains that, where it has no mission, another Schengen state may decide visas for it under a representation agreement. For Pakistan, that partner is Germany. Slovenia's foreign ministry lists two offices: the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Islamabad and the German Consulate General in Karachi. German officers examine your file and, if they approve it, issue the visa with Slovenia as your main destination.
Which German office you use is decided by your home province. Residents of Sindh and Balochistan head to Karachi, where the consulate is in Clifton near the SZABIST campus. People from Islamabad Capital Territory, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu & Kashmir use the embassy in Islamabad's Diplomatic Enclave, which visitors reach by the shuttle from 3rd Avenue. Neither office lets you choose an appointment directly. You register online and join a waiting list, receive a message confirming your number, and a slot follows when capacity frees up. Registration is free, so be wary of touts offering a faster place for cash.
Fees follow the standard Schengen rates set by the European Commission: €90 for adults, €45 for children aged 6 to 12, and free for younger children. The German missions take payment in Pakistani rupees at the day's exchange rate, in cash, and their fee page lists no extra handling fee, because you hand your papers straight to German staff rather than to a private visa company. A decision usually arrives within roughly 14 calendar days. You may apply up to half a year ahead, and should lodge well over 15 days before departure. Bring a passport you have signed, because the German missions cannot place a visa in an unsigned Pakistani passport.
If a friend, relative or business contact in Slovenia is hosting you, ask them for a guarantee or invitation letter, certified and registered at their local administrative unit in Slovenia. Add travel medical insurance worth at least €30,000, your bank statements and a letter from your employer. Planning a job or a stay beyond 90 days? Then you need a type D visa, which Slovenia decides itself through its embassy in Tehran, for a fee of €77. Official European Commission statistics for 2024 show no Slovenian consulate in Pakistan, so no Slovenia-specific refusal rate exists. If you are turned down, the decision letter sets out your options. Germany ended its informal remonstration route in July 2025.

Slovenia is represented in Pakistan by Germany. Slovenia's foreign ministry lists the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Islamabad and the German Consulate General in Karachi. Follow the German missions' Schengen checklist for your travel purpose, and add Slovenia's certified guarantee or invitation letter if you have a host or sponsor there. Slovenia's own lists of supporting documents for tourist, business and private visits are on its Tehran embassy visa page.

Processing and appointments
The German missions in Pakistan say a Schengen decision usually takes about 14 calendar days from the day you apply. Both the Islamabad embassy and the Karachi consulate allocate appointments from a waiting list in order of registration, so the wait for a slot can be long, especially in peak travel season. Register as soon as your dates are fixed.
When to apply
No earlier than 6 months and at least 15 days before the trip

Quick answers
FAQ
Can a Pakistani citizen enter Slovenia without a visa?
No. Slovenia's government says Pakistani citizens need a visa to enter, and even to pass through the international zone of an airport. Holidays, family visits and business trips of up to 90 days in any 180 need a Schengen short-stay visa.
Does Slovenia have an embassy or consulate in Pakistan?
No. Slovenia's nearest embassy is in Tehran, and it covers Pakistan for long-stay visas only. For short-stay Schengen visas, Slovenia's foreign ministry names Germany as its representative in Pakistan.
Which German office should I apply to for Slovenia?
It depends on where you live. Residents of Sindh and Balochistan apply at the German Consulate General in Karachi. Everyone else, including applicants from Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu & Kashmir, applies at the German Embassy in Islamabad.
How do I get an appointment for a Slovenia visa?
Register online with the German mission that covers your area. Both run a waiting list, and you get an email with your number, then an appointment when your turn comes. Joining is free. Anyone asking for money to put you on the list is a fraudster, the German embassy warns.
How much does a Slovenia Schengen visa cost for Pakistanis?
€90 for anyone over 12, €45 for children aged 6 to 12, and nothing for children under 6. The German missions collect it in Pakistani rupees at the current exchange rate, in cash at the counter. Their fee page lists no separate service charge.
How long does it take to get a Slovenia visa from Pakistan?
The German missions say a decision usually takes about 14 calendar days after you apply. EU rules allow up to 45 days if more checks are needed. The bigger delay is often the wait for an appointment, so register early. You can apply up to six months before you travel.
What is the Slovenian guarantee letter?
If a friend, relative or company in Slovenia is hosting or sponsoring you, they sign a guarantee letter or an invitation letter. Slovenia asks for it to be certified and registered at the relevant administrative unit in Slovenia before you use it in your application.
Can I also visit Croatia, Italy or Austria with a Slovenia visa?
Yes, all three are Schengen members, so short side trips are fine within the dates on your visa. But Slovenia must be the main destination. If you will spend more nights in a neighbouring country, apply for that country's visa instead.
I want to work or stay longer than 90 days in Slovenia. Where do I apply?
A long-stay (type D) visa is handled by Slovenia itself, not by Germany. Slovenia's embassy in Tehran covers Iran and Pakistan, and you hand in the application in person there after booking an appointment. The fee is €77, except for close family members of Slovenian or EU citizens.
Is there an official Slovenia visa refusal rate for Pakistan, and can I appeal?
There is no official Slovenia figure. The European Commission's 2024 statistics list no Slovenia consulate in Pakistan, because Germany decides those files. If you are refused, read the letter for your options. The German missions stopped their informal objection procedure (remonstration) on 1 July 2025.
