Pakistani citizens need a Schengen short-stay visa for Romania. Romania issues uniform Schengen visas and, together with Bulgaria, has lifted internal land border checks with the Schengen area as well as air and sea checks. Apply to Romania if it is your main destination or, for equal stays, your first point of entry. Fill the form on Romania's eVisa site, then lodge at the Embassy of Romania in Islamabad. The adult fee is €90 (€45 for ages 6–12).

Romania is part of the Schengen area for visa purposes. Pakistani passport holders need a short-stay type C Schengen visa for tourism, family visits or short business of up to 90 days in any 180-day period. From 31 March 2024 Romania has issued uniform Schengen visas. Internal air and sea border checks with the Schengen area were lifted then, and from 1 January 2025 checks at internal land borders with and between Bulgaria and Romania have also been lifted, according to EU Council decisions summarised on official Romanian and Bulgarian MFA pages.

Apply for a Romanian visa when Romania is your main destination or, if stays are equal, the first Schengen country you enter. Start on the official Romania eVisa portal (evisa.mae.ro), then follow the Embassy of Romania in Islamabad instructions to lodge your file. Romania does not list a VFS outsourcing arrangement for Pakistan on its main visa pages, so plan to deal with the embassy directly. Bring originals and clear copies, and make sure names and passport numbers match across every form and booking.

The European Commission sets the fee at €90 for adults and €45 for children aged 6 to 12, with under-6s free. You need a passport with at least three months' validity after leaving the Schengen area, the application form, an ICAO photo, travel medical insurance, proof of purpose, funds, accommodation and ties that show you will return. Fingerprints are taken when you lodge, unless an exemption applies. Seafarers and some family members of EU citizens may follow special timing or fee rules set out in the Visa Code.

Expect a decision in about 15 calendar days, extendable to 45 days in more complex cases. European Commission statistics for 2024 show that Romania's consulates in Pakistan (Islamabad and Karachi) did not issue 49.0% of decided Schengen applications. That figure is a public starting point, not a prediction for your file — strong, consistent documents still matter. If you are refused, the standard form explains the reasons and how to appeal under Romanian and EU rules.

Even with a visa, border officers decide whether you enter and how long you may stay within the sticker limits. Carry insurance, bookings and proof of funds when you travel. Use only evisa.mae.ro and the Romanian MFA visa pages for forms and rules.
