Pakistani citizens with an ordinary green passport need a Schengen visitor visa for Norway. You register and pay on the UDI portal, then hand in your documents at VFS Global/Gerry's in Islamabad, Lahore or Karachi. The Norwegian Embassy in Abu Dhabi decides all visitor visa applications from Pakistan.

Norway is outside the EU but inside the Schengen area, so a Pakistani ordinary passport holder visiting Oslo, the fjords or family in Norway needs a Schengen short-stay visa. Norway's embassy in Islamabad says holders of Pakistani official or diplomatic (blue) passports do not need a visa, but green passport holders do. The process is split across three places. You register and pay on UDI's online portal, hand in documents at VFS Global/Gerry's in Islamabad, Lahore or Karachi, and the Norwegian Embassy in Abu Dhabi makes the decision. VFS sends the file to Abu Dhabi by courier.

Visa operations were briefly paused in March 2026, when the Abu Dhabi visa hub suspended services for the Gulf and Pakistan. On 24 March 2026 the embassy in Islamabad announced that services had resumed, with appointments booked online at VFS after paying the service fee. The embassy also says neither it nor UDI can guarantee when a decision will be made, so treat UDI's waiting-time page as a guide only. The Abu Dhabi embassy says it does not work with any visa agents in Pakistan. Its official partner is VFS Global.

Norway publishes its own checklist for applicants in Pakistan, based on the harmonised Schengen list for Pakistan. Alongside the usual passport, photo and insurance, it asks for a copy of your CNIC and a Family Registration Certificate in English from NADRA as proof of ties. For money, it wants bank statements covering the last six months, signed and stamped by the bank, plus your National Tax Number certificate and FBR acknowledgements of tax returns for the last two fiscal years. If you cannot produce one of these, give other documented proof of income or assets. Employees add three months of payslips, their contract and a leave letter from the employer. Government employees need a No Objection Certificate, and retired applicants give six months of pension statements.

What you add next depends on the trip. Tourists need a detailed travel plan with dates, transport and hotels. If you are visiting family or friends, your host in Norway sends a sponsorship and invitation letter, following UDI's sponsor rules, and you prove the relationship with a NADRA FRC or, for a spouse, a Nikah Nama or marriage registration certificate in English. Business visitors need a letter on company letterhead and evidence of the business relationship, such as invoices or correspondence. Hand in one readable A4 set without staples or glue, with an A4 copy of any original, and get certified English or Norwegian translations of anything in Urdu.

Completeness matters more for Norway than for many other Schengen states. The VFS page for Norway says the embassy will reject an application with missing documents without asking for more, so attach a written explanation for anything you cannot provide. Every Pakistani application also goes through a Schengen consultation with other member states under Article 22 of the Visa Code, which can add time. You can apply up to six months before travel and no later than 15 days before. The visa fee follows the common Schengen rate, €90 for adults, with VFS service charges on top. Apply to Norway only if it is your main destination. If most of your trip is elsewhere in Europe, apply to that country instead.
