Pakistani passport holders must get a Macao visa before travelling. Since 1 July 2010, Macao's Public Security Police Force has required nationals of six countries, Pakistan among them, to apply in advance through a Chinese diplomatic mission, and they cannot get the usual visa on arrival at the Macao border. In Pakistan, the Embassy of China says applications go through Gerry's Visa Application Centre, and the total fee is PKR 13,700 per person. A Macao visa usually allows 14 days per stay, and the Macao police usually take about 7 working days to vet a file once it is complete. Only Pakistani diplomatic passports are visa-free, for up to 14 days.

Macau squeezes a lot into a small place: the Ruins of St. Paul's, the old Portuguese lanes around Senado Square, the A-Ma Temple and the bright lights of the Cotai Strip. Travellers of many nationalities can arrive by ferry or plane without arranging anything first, but that is not the case for Pakistani passport holders. Macao's Public Security Police Force lists Pakistan as one of six nationalities that must get a Macao visa in advance through a Chinese diplomatic mission, a rule in force since July 2010.

In Pakistan, the route runs through Gerry's Visa Application Centre. The Embassy of China in Islamabad confirmed this in a guide dated 7 April 2026, which covers both Pakistani citizens and foreigners living legally in Pakistan. The embassy quotes PKR 13,700 per person, of which PKR 5,500 is a visa communication fee. Behind that figure sits Macao's own schedule: US$30 per application, US$15 for each child included and US$20 for relaying the file to Macao.

Your file should include the Macao Visa Application Form, copies of your passport's data page and every used page, a recent bank statement or other proof of funds, return flights and hotel reservations. Add proof of why you are going, such as a relative's Macao residence card and proof of the family link, plus copies of any earlier Macao stamps and any visas you hold for other countries. Your passport must stay valid for at least 90 days after you leave Macao.

Most Macao visas allow a stay of 14 days, whether single entry within three months, two entries, or multiple entries within six months. Longer multiple-entry visas of one or two years allow 30 days per stay. The Macao police say vetting usually takes about seven working days once documents are complete, and the embassy and Gerry's need extra time to forward the file and return your passport, so apply a few weeks before departure.

Macao law expects every visitor to carry enough money for the stay and the journey home, and officers can refuse entry to anyone who cannot show it. If your activities clearly differ from the purpose you declared, your permission to stay can be cancelled, followed by a three-month entry ban. Macao does not publish an approval or refusal rate for Pakistani applicants. If Hong Kong is on the same itinerary, remember it needs its own separate visa.

Fees

    PKR 13,700

PKR 13,700 per person, which includes a PKR 5,500 visa communication fee collected by the Embassy of China in Pakistan (embassy guide of 7 April 2026). The Macao Public Security Police Force sets the underlying charge at US$30 per regular application, plus US$15 for each accompanying child and a US$20 fee for relaying the file to Macao; Chinese missions collect these in local currency. Express charges, where offered, follow the mission’s own rates.

  • Service or extra charges

The embassy’s PKR 13,700 figure is the total it quotes per person. Ask Gerry’s whether any separate service charge applies when you submit.

Timeline

  • Processing and appointments

The Macao Public Security Police Force says its vetting usually takes 7 working days from the day all required documents are correctly prepared, for applications that are relayed to Macao. The Chinese mission then issues the visa, and its own handling time comes on top, so ask Gerry’s for the expected collection date.

Quick answers

FAQ

Do Pakistanis need a visa for Macau?

Yes. Macao’s Public Security Police Force lists Pakistan among six nationalities that must apply for a Macao visa in advance through a Chinese diplomatic mission. Only Pakistani diplomatic passport holders are exempt, for up to 14 days.

Can I get a visa on arrival at Macau airport or the ferry terminal?

No. Since 1 July 2010, Pakistani nationals cannot apply for the authorisation to enter and stay, often called visa on arrival, at Macao’s checkpoints. Bangladesh, Nepal, Nigeria, Sri Lanka and Vietnam are under the same rule.

Where do I apply in Pakistan?

At Gerry’s Visa Application Centre, according to the Embassy of China in Pakistan’s guide of April 2026. Foreigners legally living in Pakistan can apply there too, with proof such as a Pakistani visa or a Pakistan Origin Card. The embassy says Gerry’s handles Chinese visa applications from offices in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore, so ask which office takes Macao files.

How much does a Macau visa cost from Pakistan?

The Embassy of China in Pakistan quotes PKR 13,700 per person, including a PKR 5,500 visa communication fee. Macao’s own fee schedule is US$30 per application, US$15 for each accompanying child and US$20 for relaying the file to Macao, converted by the mission.

How long does it take?

Applications that must be checked in Macao usually take 7 working days of vetting by the Public Security Police Force once your documents are complete. Add time for Gerry’s and the embassy to send the file and return your passport.

How long can I stay in Macau?

Most Macao visas allow 14 days per stay: single entry within 3 months, two entries within 3 months, or multiple entries within 6 months. One-year and two-year multiple-entry visas allow 30 days per stay.

How long must my passport be valid?

At least 90 days beyond the date you plan to leave Macao, under Administrative Regulation No. 38/2021. Renew a passport that is close to expiry before applying.

Do I need to show money or a return ticket?

Yes. Macao law requires visitors to have enough money for their stay and for a return ticket. If you cannot show this, you can be refused entry and your visa application can be rejected.

What happens if I do something other than what I declared?

Macao can revoke your permission to stay if your activities clearly differ from the purpose you declared. Revocation means a three-month ban on entering Macao and can lead to a longer entry ban.

Can I visit Macau from Hong Kong on the same trip?

Yes, but you need both visas. Hong Kong and Macao run separate immigration systems. For Hong Kong you apply online to the Hong Kong Immigration Department, and for Macao you go through Gerry’s in Pakistan.
