Since 15 July 2026, under the UK-EU treaty arrangements on Gibraltar, Gibraltar has aligned its short-stay visa policy with the Schengen area and recognises Schengen short-stay visas for entry. Pakistan is not on Gibraltar’s list of visa-exempt nationalities, so Pakistani passport holders need a Schengen short-stay visa before travelling. Where Gibraltar is the main destination, the visa is issued by Spain. If another Schengen country is the main destination, that country issues it. The UK visa route for Gibraltar closed on 8 July 2026.

Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory at the mouth of the Mediterranean, crowned by the limestone Rock with its Barbary macaques, Great Siege Tunnels and St Michael’s Cave, and views across the strait to Morocco.

Entry rules changed on 15 July 2026, when the UK-EU treaty arrangements took effect. Gibraltar now follows Schengen short-stay visa policy and accepts Schengen visas. Pakistan is not on its visa-exempt list, so Pakistani citizens need a Schengen short-stay visa.

If Gibraltar is the main destination, Spain issues the visa as the neighbouring Schengen state whose territory you cross. A trip centred elsewhere in Schengen goes to that country instead. The fee is 90 euros for adults.

The old UK visa route for Gibraltar closed on 8 July 2026, and UK visas or UK residence no longer bring an exemption. The Government of Gibraltar warns that flying in does not get around visa rules.

Stays follow the 90-in-180-day rule. Apply between six months and 15 days before travel with the usual Schengen papers, including 30,000-euro insurance and proof of funds, accommodation and return.

Pakistan does not appear on Gibraltar’s visa-exempt list (Technical Notice 558.1/2026), so a Schengen short-stay visa is required. A UK visa no longer gives entry to Gibraltar.
