Brunei’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs places Pakistani ordinary passports in Category A, whose nationals require a visa to enter Brunei Darussalam, applied for through the nearest Brunei mission. In Pakistan that is the High Commission of Brunei Darussalam in Islamabad, which publishes its own checklist for Pakistanis. Submit at least six weeks before your flight; late applications are not accepted. The fee is BND 20 (PKR 5,000), paid only when the visa is stamped.
Brunei Darussalam, the small sultanate on the island of Borneo, is known for the golden-domed Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, the stilt village of Kampong Ayer and the rainforest of Ulu Temburong National Park. Pakistanis need a visa, which they obtain through Brunei’s High Commission in Islamabad.
Brunei’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs groups countries into visa categories, and Pakistani ordinary passports fall into Category A, meaning nationals require a visa to enter. Category A social visit applications are made through the nearest Brunei mission abroad, normally in person, or by secure courier where there is no mission.
For Pakistanis the High Commission publishes its own checklist: a cover letter, the visa application and declaration forms, a passport copy with six months of validity and six blank pages, two photos, a confirmed return ticket, proof of accommodation, three months of bank statements, a polio certificate and medical insurance.
The fee is BND 20 per application, which Islamabad collects as PKR 5,000 when the visa is stamped, not at submission. The bank statement should show a closing balance of at least PKR 500,000 or regular income, and medical insurance must cover at least BND 10,000.
Allow plenty of time. The High Commission refuses applications filed less than six weeks before travel, and the ministry quotes fourteen working days of processing. Business, professional and work visas follow a different route, starting with approval from Brunei’s Immigration Department through a sponsor.
