Uganda Tourist Visa, single entry, applied for and approved online through the Immigration Portal
Stay limit
Up to 3 months
Entries
Single

Pakistan does not appear on Uganda’s list of visa-exempt countries, so Pakistani passport holders need a visa. The single-entry tourist visa covers tourism, medical treatment, family visits and similar trips, and can be granted for up to 3 months. The whole application runs on the online Immigration Portal: you upload documents, pay, and receive an approval letter by email. You do not visit an embassy; instead you report to the immigration office or border post with your passport, receipts and approval letter for biometric capture. The approval is valid for 90 days from the day it is issued, so travel within that window or apply again.

Uganda handles visitor visas through an online system, which suits Pakistani travellers who would rather not deal with an embassy counter. Pakistan is not on Uganda’s official list of visa-exempt countries, so a Pakistani passport holder needs a visa before travelling. For holidays, family visits and medical trips, the usual choice is the single-entry tourist visa.

Uganda’s official immigration website describes this visa as covering tourism, medical treatment, family visits and similar purposes. It is single entry and can be granted for up to 3 months. The fee is USD 50, non-refundable, and payments are subject to a bank charge. Some approvals call for a top-up payment before the approval letter is generated.

You apply on the Immigration Portal. Log in, start a new application, accept the disclaimer, pick the visa type, category and sub-category, then fill in the form and upload your documents. The system issues a reference number, you pay where prepayment applies, and the approval letter is emailed to you. On arrival you report to immigration for biometric capture with your passport, receipts and letter.

Tourists attach a copy of the passport bio-data page with at least 6 months validity, a recent passport-size photo, a tour plan, a travel itinerary or booking, and a hotel booking or other accommodation address. Business visitors need an invitation letter that clearly states their business in Uganda, and family visitors need an invitation plus the host’s immigration status. Everything must be in English.

An approval stays valid for 90 days from the day it is issued and is cancelled automatically after that, so time your application close to your trip. After arrival, the initial period may be extended for another 60 days in two intervals. Uganda publishes no approval or refusal rate, and the immigration website notes that more documents may be requested.
