The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Islamabad states that all foreign citizens must hold a valid visa during their stay in Turkmenistan. A visa is granted on the basis of a letter of invitation (LOI) certified by the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan, so Pakistani travellers must first secure an LOI and then have the visa issued. For tourist trips, only Turkmen national tourism agencies can request the LOI. Once it is approved, the visa can be stamped at a Turkmen embassy or consulate, including the Embassy in Islamabad, or on arrival at a border crossing or international airport.

Turkmenistan spans the Karakum Desert, home to the burning Darvaza gas crater, the ruins of ancient Merv on the Silk Road, and Ashgabat’s white-marble avenues. Pakistani visitors need a visa arranged through an invitation.

The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Islamabad says all foreign citizens must hold a valid visa in the country. The process has two steps: a letter of invitation certified by the State Migration Service, then the visa itself.

For tourism, only Turkmen national tourism agencies can request the letter, which stays valid for three months. Business visitors rely on their Turkmen counterpart. With the letter, the visa is stamped at an embassy or on arrival at an airport or land border.

In Islamabad you submit the form with a glued photo, a signed passport valid six months beyond departure, a signed biodata copy, an ID document, the letter and a money order. Papers must be handed in by hand.

Fees in the Embassy’s table start at USD 35 for ten days and reach USD 55 for one month on a single entry. Expedited service costs more, and the Foreign Ministry adds USD 50 for visas issued at Ashgabat airport.
