- 30 days, extendable once for 30 days
- Entries
- Single entry (multiple entry possible for travel to Oecussi)
Pakistani citizens with an ordinary passport are not on Timor-Leste’s visa exemption list, which covers Schengen-area citizens, four ASEAN countries and holders of diplomatic, official or service passports. They can obtain a tourist visa on arrival at any official air, land or sea border post staffed by the Migration Service, provided they meet the criteria. The visa costs US$30 in cash and allows a single entry with a 30-day stay, extendable once. Travellers who were previously refused entry, removed or excluded, or who have unpaid fines, must obtain the visa in advance from a Timor-Leste embassy or consulate.
Timor-Leste shares the island of Timor with Indonesia and offers coral reefs off Atauro, mountain villages and the waterfront capital, Dili. Pakistani travellers need a visa, but the country’s Migration Service makes it simple: the tourist visa can be obtained on arrival at any official border post where its officers are present, by air, land or sea.
Visa-free entry is narrow. The published exemptions cover Schengen-area citizens under a 2015 agreement with the European Union, citizens of Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, and holders of diplomatic, official or service passports. Pakistan is not on the list, so a Pakistani ordinary passport holder applies for the tourist visa at the border.
The fee is US$30, paid in cash in US dollars. On arrival present a passport valid at least six months and a completed arrival declaration. Officers may also ask to see funds, accommodation and an onward ticket. The law sets the funds at US$100 per entry plus US$50 per day of stay, though a local sponsor can guarantee food and lodging instead.
The visa allows one entry and a stay of 30 days, and it may be extended once for another 30 days for US$40. Extensions are lodged in person at the Migration Service headquarters in Dili and take up to 15 days. If you plan to visit the Oecussi enclave, tell the officer, who can grant multiple entries.
A tourist visa does not allow any work, paid or unpaid. Travellers who were refused entry before, were removed or excluded, or still owe fines cannot use the on-arrival route and must apply at a Timor-Leste embassy or consulate with a form, a 3 by 4 cm photo and supporting documents.
Checklist
Document requirements
- Pakistani passport valid for at least six months on the date of entry
- Completed arrival declaration
- US$30 in cash for the visa fee

- If applying before travel at an embassy or consulate: signed application form, passport copy, colour photo 3 x 4 cm on a plain background, and the funds, accommodation and departure evidence listed above
Pakistan is not covered by any of the visa exemptions published by the Migration Service, so Pakistani ordinary passport holders use the tourist visa. It may be applied for on arrival unless you have been refused entry, removed or excluded from Timor-Leste before, or have outstanding fines; in those cases you must obtain it in advance at a Timor-Leste embassy or consulate.

Quick answers
FAQ
Do Pakistanis need a visa for Timor-Leste?
Yes, but it can usually be obtained on arrival. Pakistani ordinary passport holders are not visa exempt, and the Migration Service issues a tourist visa at official border posts to travellers who meet its criteria.
How much is the Timor-Leste visa on arrival?
US$30, paid in US dollar cash.
How long can I stay?
30 days on a single entry. The visa can be extended once, for another 30 days, at the Migration Service headquarters in Dili for US$40.
Where can I get the visa on arrival?
At all official air, land and sea border posts that are open to foreign nationals and staffed by the Migration Service.
How much money do I need to show?
If asked, US$100 for each entry plus US$50 for each day of stay, as set by Article 15 of the Law on Migration and Asylum. A sponsor’s term of responsibility can replace this.
How long must my passport be valid?
At least six months on the date you enter Timor-Leste.
Who must apply before travelling?
Anyone previously refused entry, removed or excluded from the country, or with unpaid fines, must obtain the visa in advance from a Timor-Leste embassy or consulate.
Can I work on a tourist visa?
No. Holders may not take up employment or any professional activity, paid or unpaid.
Can I visit Oecussi on the same visa?
Yes. Tell the issuing officer that you plan to travel to Oecussi and you may be granted multiple entries instead of a single entry.
Can I extend more than once?
Generally no. Further extensions are allowed only in exceptional cases, such as serious medical or humanitarian reasons or genuine transport problems not caused by the traveller. If you apply for the first extension more than 15 days before your visa expires, the count of its validity is suspended while the request is processed.
What if I prefer to get the visa before flying?
You can apply at a Timor-Leste embassy or consulate with the signed application form, your passport and a copy, a 3 x 4 cm colour photo, and evidence of funds or family sponsorship, accommodation and onward travel.
Is there an official visa approval rate for Pakistanis?
No approval or refusal rate for Pakistani travellers is published by Timor-Leste’s Migration Service.
