- Stay limit

Paraguay's Dirección General de Migraciones lists Pakistan as requiring a visa to enter as a tourist (Resolution 210 of 15 March 2023). Pakistanis apply for a non-resident visa, for stays of up to 90 days, through the Foreign Ministry's online visa system and then attend an interview at a Paraguayan embassy or consulate. Pakistan is also on the list of nationalities that need special authorisation from the Foreign Ministry, so processing can take around a month.
Paraguay is a landlocked country in the heart of South America, bordered by Argentina, Brazil and Bolivia. Asunción, the capital, sits on the Paraguay River, and visitors also head for the Jesuit mission ruins of Trinidad and Jesús, the Itaipú dam on the Paraná and the wild Gran Chaco in the west.
Pakistani citizens need a visa. The Dirección General de Migraciones lists Pakistan as requiring a visa to enter as a tourist, under a resolution dated 15 March 2023, and the same applies to longer stays, residence or paid work.
Short visits use the non-resident visa, which covers up to 90 days. The application starts online on the Foreign Ministry's VisasEnLinea portal, where you upload a photo, passport scan, previous visas, proof of funds, an apostilled police certificate, accommodation and travel plans. A consular office then reviews the file and sets an interview.
Pakistan is on the list of nationalities that need special authorisation from the Foreign Ministry, so the visa can take about a month. Paraguay's honorary consulates cannot accept applications, and the online form lets you pick the nearest embassy or consulate. The Buenos Aires consulate lists US$65 for one entry and US$100 for multiple entries.
Visas on arrival at Asunción airport are only for a handful of nationalities, and Pakistan is not among them. Apply at least 30 days before you fly, and remember that the final decision at the border rests with Paraguay's immigration authorities, even with a visa in your passport.

Quick answers
FAQ
Do Pakistanis need a visa for Paraguay?
Yes. The Dirección General de Migraciones lists Pakistan as requiring a visa to enter as a tourist, under Resolution 210 of 15 March 2023.
What type of visa do I apply for?
A non-resident visa, used for tourism and short technical or business visits of up to 90 days in Paraguayan territory.
How do I apply?
Fill in the online form on the Foreign Ministry's VisasEnLinea site and attach your documents. A Paraguayan consular office reviews the file, may ask for more papers, and then gives you a date for an interview.
Is there an embassy in Pakistan where I can apply?
The online form shows the countries and cities where you can apply, and you choose the one closest to where you live. Paraguay's honorary consulates abroad are not allowed to accept visa applications.
How much does the visa cost?
The Consulate General in Buenos Aires lists US$65 for a single entry and US$100 for multiple entries under current regulations. Other consulates may collect the equivalent in local currency.
How long does it take?
Pakistan is among the nationalities that need special authorisation from the Foreign Ministry, so the process may take around a month. The Ministry recommends applying at least 30 days before your trip.
Can I get a visa on arrival at the airport?
No. Visas on arrival at Silvio Pettirossi International Airport are only for nationals of Australia, Canada, the United States, Qatar, Oman, New Zealand and Taiwan.
Is the interview always in person?
Usually yes, but the Foreign Ministry says that for duly justified reasons, and on a restrictive basis, the interview may be held by electronic means.
What if someone in Paraguay is inviting me?
Attach an invitation letter with the inviter's phone, email and purpose of the visit, plus a notarised copy of their Paraguayan ID. Companies add tax and registration certificates, and inviters register online.
Can children apply?
Minors under 18 cannot apply alone. A parent or legal guardian completes the online form, and if the parents are not travelling, a written travel authorisation is needed.
Does a visa guarantee entry?
No. The visa means a consular officer found you eligible, but Paraguay's immigration authorities make the final decision at the border.
What if I am approved but have moved to another country?
You can ask the consular office handling your case to let you collect the visa at the nearest Paraguayan embassy or consulate where you now are.
