The Government of Montserrat immigration portal places Pakistan on its list of countries that do not require a visa to travel to Montserrat, and Pakistan does not appear on the visa-required list. Pakistani visitors therefore travel with a valid passport and go through normal immigration checks on arrival. The portal does not state a maximum length of stay for visa-exempt visitors; the Immigration Officer deals with admission at the port of entry.

Montserrat, a small British Overseas Territory in the Leeward Islands, is known as the Emerald Isle of the Caribbean, with black-sand beaches, rainforest hiking in the Centre Hills and views of the Soufrière Hills volcano over the buried town of Plymouth. Good news for Pakistani travellers: no visa is needed.

The Government of Montserrat runs an online immigration portal with two nationality lists. Pakistan sits on the list of countries that do not require a visa, alongside many Commonwealth states, while the visa-required list covers countries such as Afghanistan, Iran and Saudi Arabia. That makes Montserrat one of the few Caribbean territories open to Pakistani passports without paperwork in advance.

Being visa-exempt does not remove border control. Every visitor still goes through normal immigration checks on arrival, so bring a valid passport, a return or onward ticket, your accommodation details and evidence you can cover the cost of the trip.

The official pages do not state how long a visa-exempt visitor may remain, so plan a fixed itinerary and follow the stay granted at the port of entry. Paid work is not part of a visit, and the Labour Department handles questions about employment on the island.

Because the trip involves at least one connection, look at the transit or entry rules of every stopover before booking. Nationals of visa-required countries use the US$50 eVisa, valid for a year with multiple entries, but Pakistani passport holders can skip that step entirely.

Quick answers

FAQ

Do Pakistanis need a visa for Montserrat?

No. Pakistan is on the Government of Montserrat list of countries that do not require a visa to travel to the island.

How do I check this myself?

The immigration portal has two lists. Nationals on the visa-required list need an eVisa; nationals on the visa-not-required list, which includes Pakistan, do not.

So I do not pay the US$50 fee?

Correct. The US$50 combined application and processing fee is for eVisa applicants from visa-required countries only.

How long can I stay?

The portal does not set out a stay limit for visa-exempt visitors. Arrive with a clear return date and the Immigration Officer will deal with your admission.

Can I work while visiting?

Not as a visitor. Questions about working in Montserrat go to the Labour Department.

What should I carry at the border?

Your passport, return ticket and details of where you are staying. Like every arrival, you remain subject to normal immigration checks.

Do children need anything separate?

No visa is needed for Pakistani children either, but each child must travel on their own valid passport.

I hold a second nationality that needs a visa. What then?

Travel on your Pakistani passport and show that same passport to the Immigration Officer. The portal says a passport used for an eVisa application must be the one presented on arrival, so mixing documents causes problems.

My spouse is from a visa-required country. How do they apply?

They apply online for an eVisa through the Government of Montserrat portal, pay US$50 by Visa, MasterCard or American Express, and usually get a decision within 24 hours. The eVisa is valid for one year with multiple entries and is not refunded if plans change.

Is the Montserrat list the final word on entry?

The list decides whether a visa is required. Admission itself is decided at the port of entry after the usual checks, which is the same for every traveller.

What if I am a non-national who owns property there?

The portal offers a separate Residents Permit application for non-nationals who own property in Montserrat.

What about the countries I pass through?

Montserrat's rules cover Montserrat only. Any island or country where you change planes or ferries has its own entry and transit rules, so check those before you book.

Is there an official refusal rate?

No. Montserrat does not publish entry refusal figures by nationality.
