Pakistan is not on Mongolia's visa-free lists, and it is not among the 97 countries whose citizens can request a tourist (K2), cultural or sports (K4) or transit (K6) e-visa without an inviter. A Pakistani visitor therefore needs a visa arranged through a host in Mongolia, such as a company, organisation, tour operator or Mongolian citizen, or through the Embassy of Mongolia in Beijing, which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs names as the embassy responsible for Pakistan.

Mongolia is a land of open steppe, the Gobi Desert, the Altai mountains and nomadic culture, with Ulaanbaatar as its busy capital. Pakistani travellers go for adventure tours, the Naadam festival in July, mining and trade business, and conferences, often flying in through Beijing, Seoul or Istanbul.

Pakistani passport holders need a visa for Mongolia. Pakistan is not on the visa-free lists published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and it is not one of the 97 countries whose citizens can request a tourist e-visa without an inviter.

That means your visa has to be backed by a host in Mongolia. A company, organisation, licensed tour operator or Mongolian citizen can act as your inviter and submit the request to the Immigration Agency. Tourists use the K2 category, business visitors use K1, and people coming for cultural or sports events use K4.

You can also go through a Mongolian embassy. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists the Embassy of Mongolia in Beijing as responsible for Pakistan, and there is an Honorary Consul of Mongolia in Karachi who can answer questions about documents.

The Immigration Agency charges USD 45 for a single-entry visa plus a USD 5 service fee and a small permit charge. Single-entry visas allow up to 90 days within 150 days, tourist e-visas up to 30 days. No processing time is published, so start early and check the details with your host or the embassy.

Checklist

Document requirements

  • Pakistani passport valid for the whole stay, with blank pages for the visa
  • Invitation or visa request from your host in Mongolia, such as a company, organisation, tour operator or Mongolian citizen
  • Visa application form for the category that matches your trip (for example K2 for tourism)
  • Recent passport-size photo
  • Copy of the passport data page
  • Travel itinerary or tour programme, with hotel or host address in Mongolia
  • Return or onward ticket booking
  • Proof of payment of the visa fee and service fee

Because Pakistan is not on the no-inviter e-visa list, Pakistani applicants should line up a host in Mongolia before applying. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists an Honorary Consul of Mongolia in Karachi (93/II, Street 17, Khayaban-e-Rahat, Phase VI, DHA; +92-21-35856210) who reports to the Embassy of Mongolia in Beijing. Ask the honorary consul or the embassy which documents they need for your visa category.

Quick answers

FAQ

Do Pakistanis need a visa for Mongolia?

Yes. Pakistan is not on Mongolia's visa-free lists, and Pakistani citizens are not among the 97 nationalities that can request a tourist e-visa without an inviter. You need a visa arranged through a host in Mongolia or through a Mongolian embassy.

Can I apply for the Mongolia e-visa on my own?

Not without an inviter. The Immigration Agency's list of countries allowed to request K2, K4 and K6 e-visas without an inviter does not include Pakistan, so a company, organisation, tour operator or Mongolian citizen has to support your request.

What is an inviter?

An inviter is the person or organisation in Mongolia that submits or backs your visa request. The visa-type table says a tourist (K2) visa can be requested with or without an inviter, but the no-inviter route is limited to the listed countries.

Which embassy handles visas for Pakistan?

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia lists the Embassy of Mongolia in Beijing as responsible for Pakistan. The embassy is at No. 2 Xiu Shui Bei Jie, Jian Guo Men Wai, Beijing, phone +86 10 6532 6512.

Is there a Mongolian consul in Pakistan?

Yes. The Ministry lists an Honorary Consul of Mongolia in Karachi at 93/II, Street 17, Khayaban-e-Rahat, Phase VI, DHA, phone +92-21-35856210. It is a good first contact for questions about documents.

How much does a Mongolia visa cost?

The Immigration Agency lists USD 45 for a single-entry visa and USD 60 for a double-entry visa, each plus a USD 5 service fee, and MNT 2,500 per person for the visa permit. An embassy may charge its own rate, so confirm before paying.

How long can I stay?

Single-entry and double-entry visas allow a stay of up to 90 days and are valid for 150 days. Tourist e-visas are issued for up to 30 days. The exact stay is printed on your visa.

Is a multiple-entry visa available?

Yes. The fee table lists multiple-entry visas at USD 100 for up to six months and USD 200 for six months to a year. Each stay on a multiple-entry visa is limited to 30 days.

Can I extend my visa inside Mongolia?

The Immigration Agency handles extensions. It charges MNT 40,000 for up to seven extra days and MNT 5,600 for each day after that. Apply before your current visa runs out.

Which visa should I choose for a business trip?

A business visitor coming on company business uses the K1 temporary visitor category, which must be filed by the inviting organisation. Tourists use K2, and people attending cultural or sports events use K4.

Does a group tour get a discount?

Yes. The fee table gives a 25% discount for tourist groups of five to ten people and 50% for groups of more than ten.

Is there an official refusal rate?

No. Mongolia does not publish visa refusal statistics for Pakistani applicants.
