Pakistan is on Moldova’s official list of countries whose citizens must hold a visa to enter, leave or transit Moldova, and on the list of states whose nationals need an invitation before an entry visa is issued. The invitation is issued by the General Inspectorate for Migration. A Pakistani who holds a valid visa (not a transit visa) or residence permit from an EU member state, a Schengen state, the United Kingdom, the United States or Canada is excused from the invitation, but still needs the Moldovan visa itself. Pakistan is also on the airport transit visa list. The short-stay tourism visa costs 40 euro and needs insurance of at least 30,000 euros, proof of funds of 30 euro a day (minimum 300 euro), a hotel booking and a return ticket.

Moldova sits between Romania and Ukraine and draws visitors with its wine cellars, monasteries and the capital Chișinău. For Pakistani passport holders, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is clear: Pakistan is on the official list of countries whose citizens must hold a visa to enter, leave and pass through Moldova.

The main hurdle is the invitation. Pakistan is listed among the states whose nationals need an invitation from the General Inspectorate for Migration before an entry visa is issued. There is a useful shortcut, though: if you hold a valid visa (not a transit visa) or a residence permit from an EU member state, a Schengen state, the UK, the US or Canada, you are excused from that step.

For tourism, the short-stay C/T visa asks for a passport issued in the past 10 years and valid 3 months beyond your exit, a 35 x 45 mm photo, a hotel booking, a return ticket and the application form. Add a bank statement no older than 10 days showing 30 euro per day, with a minimum of 300 euro, and medical insurance of at least 30,000 euros.

The consular fee for the tourism visa is 40 euro, plus additional fees where they apply. Pakistan is also on the airport transit visa list, so even a connection through a Moldovan airport needs a type A visa costing 20 euro, unless you hold an EU or US visa or residence permit.

Applications go through a Moldovan embassy or consulate, and the Ministry also runs an official portal at evisa.gov.md with a visa check and online form. Moldova publishes no processing time or approval rate for Pakistani applicants, so start early, especially if you need the migration invitation first.
