Summary
- Visa type
- E-visa (online application before travel; biometrics on arrival)
- Stay limit
- 30, 90 or 360 days, depending on the package chosen
- Entries
- As set on the e-visa
Mauritania issues entry visas electronically through the National Agency for the Population Register and Secure Titles (ANRPTS). Pakistan is not on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs list of countries that have a reciprocal visa-waiver agreement with Mauritania, so Pakistani passport holders must obtain an e-visa before boarding. The traveller fills in the online request, the application is reviewed, and an approved e-visa is issued against the request number. Biometric data is captured at the border on arrival.
Mauritania stretches from the Atlantic shore of the Banc d’Arguin, where millions of migrating birds winter, to the Saharan caravan towns of Chinguetti and Ouadane with their old manuscript libraries. Pakistani travellers need an e-visa before setting off.
Entry visas are now handled online by ANRPTS, the national population register and secure titles agency. Pakistan is absent from the Foreign Ministry’s list of states holding a visa-waiver agreement with Mauritania, so a Pakistani passport needs an approved e-visa.
Fees depend on region and length of stay. Pakistani citizens pay the Rest of the World rate: EUR 55 or USD 60 for 30 days and EUR 95 or USD 100 for 90 days. Longer packages cost more, and the cheaper Arab and African rates do not apply.
You complete the request on the agency’s site with your personal details and documents. Once the application is reviewed and validated, the e-visa is issued against your request number, and you keep it with you for boarding.
On arrival at the airport or land border, officers take your fingerprints and photo to finish the formalities. The e-visa is valid at all international entry points, and no official processing time is published, so apply early.

Quick answers
FAQ
Do Pakistanis need a visa for Mauritania?
Yes. Pakistan has no visa-waiver agreement with Mauritania, so you need an e-visa approved before you fly.
Who issues the e-visa?
ANRPTS, the National Agency for the Population Register and Secure Titles, which runs the online application under the Ministry of the Interior.
Can I still get a visa at the airport without applying first?
The Foreign Ministry describes an online-only route: you apply on the agency’s site, receive the e-visa, then board. Plan on applying before travel.
How much does it cost for a Pakistani?
EUR 55 or USD 60 for a 30-day visa, EUR 95 or USD 100 for 90 days. Pakistanis pay the Rest of the World rate.
Why do some travellers pay less?
The ministry’s table charges a lower rate to Arab and African nationals, for example EUR 40 for 30 days. That reduced rate is not available on a Pakistani passport.
What lengths of stay are offered?
The portal offers 30-day, 90-day and 360-day packages. The ministry’s fee table also covers stays of one to two years and longer.
What does a long visa cost?
Three months to one year is EUR 190 (USD 200); one to two years is EUR 270 (USD 285).
What are the steps?
Open the agency’s site, complete the visa request with your details and documents, wait for the review, receive the e-visa linked to your request number, then travel.
Do I need to print the e-visa?
Carry it with you. The ministry says to have your e-visa when boarding for Mauritania, and you present it again at the entry point.
What happens when I land?
Border officers capture your biometric data, fingerprints and photo, to complete your entry formalities.
Are entry points limited?
No. The portal states that all visas are issued electronically and allow entry through every international port of entry.
Can I track my application?
Yes. The portal has a tracking option for requests that are already in progress.
Which countries are exempt?
Agreements cover Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Mali, Senegal, Gambia, Niger, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Chad and Burkina Faso. Some other countries are exempt only on diplomatic or service passports.
Are Pakistani diplomatic passports exempt?
Pakistan does not appear on the ministry’s exemption list, including the section for diplomatic and service passports.
Should I check my details before paying?
Yes. The portal asks you to verify everything you entered before moving to the payment stage.
Is there an official processing time?
No. Neither the ministry nor the agency publishes one, so apply well before your flight.
Is there an official refusal rate for Pakistanis?
No. Mauritania does not publish visa refusal figures by nationality.
Where can I check the latest fees?
On the Ministry of Foreign Affairs visa page, which lists the euro and dollar rates for each length of stay.
Can I work on this visa?
A visitor e-visa covers travel such as tourism and short visits. Paid work needs the appropriate permit from Mauritanian authorities.
