Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi and Penang are favourites with Pakistani families and students, and the visa process is fully online. The MyVISA terms list Pakistan among the countries whose citizens must hold an eVISA before a social visit such as tourism, seeing friends or family, or attending a short event. Visa-free entry does not apply. You can apply from anywhere in the world except Malaysia itself and a short list of excluded countries, so a Pakistani working in Dubai can apply from there.

The Immigration Department of Malaysia runs the official MyVISA portal at malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my and warns that it is not responsible for problems caused by unofficial or third-party sites. Visitors choose between a Single Entry Visa and a Multiple Entry Visa where your category allows it. Each entry carries a fixed maximum stay, and approving a new eVISA automatically cancels any active Malaysian visa you already hold, so time applications with care.

To apply, register an account, choose Pakistan and the social-visit category that matches your trip, and upload clear images of your passport photo page, flight booking, paid accommodation and any supporting documents. Applicants under the age of majority add a birth certificate. You pay online, and the checkout shows the visa fee, a separate processing fee and any optional convenience charges before you commit. The portal shows status labels as your file moves; if it asks for more documents or an update, the processing count starts again from your new upload, so do not apply at the last minute.

An approved eVISA does not guarantee entry. At the airport, officers can ask for a passport with comfortable validity, your eVISA printout, a confirmed return ticket, proof of paid accommodation and other evidence such as funds. Carry paper copies in your hand luggage rather than relying on mobile data in the arrival hall.

Separately, every traveller, children included, must complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card, the MDAC, on the Immigration Department's own site during the short window before arrival. Ignore websites that charge to process it. Common mistakes include uploading an unpaid pay-at-hotel booking, blurry phone photos of passport pages, a passport close to expiry, and paying a middleman on a lookalike site.

If you plan Kuala Lumpur, then Singapore, then back to Kuala Lumpur, remember that re-entering Malaysia counts as another journey, which a single-entry eVISA does not cover, and that Singapore needs its own visa. Visitors may not work or study.
