Summary
- Visa type
- Standard Visitor visa (applied for through UK Visas and Immigration)
- Stay limit
- Usually up to 6 months (up to 12 months for medical or academic visitors)
- Entries
- As stated on the visa
Pakistan is on the UK Appendix Visitor visa national list, and the Isle of Man follows the same visitor system within the Common Travel Area. A Pakistani passport holder therefore needs a visit visa before travelling, applied for online through UK Visas and Immigration. The Isle of Man Government says holders of a valid UK or Channel Islands visa can travel freely around the Common Travel Area without a separate Isle of Man visa, while Schengen visas are not valid on the island.
The Isle of Man sits in the Irish Sea between Great Britain and Ireland, a self-governing Crown Dependency famous for the TT motorcycle races, the Laxey Wheel, Castle Rushen and walks over Snaefell. It is not part of the UK, but it shares the Common Travel Area, and its visitor system closely follows the British one.
That is why Pakistan's status is decided by the UK visa national list, on which Pakistan appears. Pakistani passport holders must hold a visit visa before travelling to the island, and there is no option to be assessed for the first time on arrival in Douglas or Ronaldsway.
The application itself is made online through UK Visas and Immigration. GOV.UK lists £135 for a Standard Visitor visa covering stays of up to six months, with long-term visit visas available for frequent travellers. You will give fingerprints and a photo at a visa application centre.
If you already hold a valid visa for the UK or the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man Government says you can travel freely around the Common Travel Area without a separate visa for the island. A Schengen visa does not count, so a European tour does not open the door here.
Visitors may sightsee, see relatives, attend meetings or study short courses, but cannot work, claim benefits, extend their stay or switch category while on the island. Arrivals through Dublin must report to the Isle of Man Immigration Office, and current processing delays mean applying well before travel.
