Curaçao is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and Pakistani nationals are not among those allowed in without a visa. The answer is the Dutch Caribbean short-stay visa, handed in personally at one of the VFS centres in Pakistan. Each trip to Curaçao is capped at 30 consecutive days; staying between 30 and 90 days requires an extension from the island's admission authority (Toelatingsorganisatie) after arrival. Every foreign visitor must also complete the Digital Immigration Card online within 7 days before departure.

Curaçao mixes Dutch colonial colour with Caribbean energy: the gabled Handelskade facing Willemstad's harbour, the wild northern coast at Shete Boka, the climb up Christoffel mountain and day trips to the empty sands of Klein Curaçao. Pakistani visitors can reach it with one Dutch-issued visa.

Because the island is a country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, its visas come from Dutch missions. Pakistani citizens are not visa-exempt, so the route is the Caribbean visa for stays of up to 90 days, submitted personally at a VFS centre in Lahore, Karachi or Islamabad.

Some travellers skip it: those with a Schengen visa valid for several entries, a British or Irish visa of the same kind, or residence rights in Europe’s Schengen zone, Britain, Ireland, America or Canada. A US or Canadian tourist visa by itself does not count for Pakistanis.

Applicants in Pakistan pay €80 to the Dutch authorities and a handling charge to VFS. The file needs bank statements, proof of a job or business, a booking for every night and health cover worth US$15,000 or more. Expect a decision within about 15 calendar days.

Curaçao is stricter on length than its neighbours, with a maximum of 30 consecutive days unless you obtain an extension locally. Before flying, every foreign visitor completes the Digital Immigration Card online in the 7 days before departure.

Quick answers

FAQ

Do Pakistanis need a visa for Curaçao?

Yes, in most cases. Pakistani citizens are absent from the Dutch Caribbean visa-free list and must obtain the Caribbean visa, apart from the exemptions below.

Which documents remove the need for a Curaçao visa?

Any of these: a Schengen visa good for several entries, a Schengen residence card, a British or Irish visa allowing more than one entry, British or Irish residence, or American or Canadian residence status.

Is a US visitor visa enough?

No. Only certain nationalities, for example Indian and Chinese citizens, can rely on a US or Canadian visa. Pakistan is not among them.

What does the Curaçao visa cost in Pakistan?

The Dutch fee table for Pakistan lists €80. VFS adds its own handling charge.

Where do I apply?

At a VFS centre in Lahore, Karachi or Islamabad. Everyone attends personally, children too.

How many days can I spend in Curaçao?

No more than 30 days in a row. For a longer stay of up to 90 days, apply for an extension through the Toelatingsorganisatie once you are on the island.

What is the Digital Immigration Card?

A mandatory online form for all foreign travellers to Curaçao. Fill it in at dicardcuracao.com within 7 days before you fly, then show the confirmation at check-in and to immigration.

Can I combine Curaçao with Aruba?

Yes. The Caribbean visa covers all six islands of the Dutch Caribbean, although the 30-day limit still applies to time spent in Curaçao.

Do I need a paid air ticket to apply?

No. A reservation in your name showing travel to and from the islands is enough for the application.

What insurance is accepted?

A policy in your name valid on every Dutch Caribbean island for the whole trip, with medical cover worth US$15,000 or more, including hospital stays, emergencies, medicines and repatriation.

Can I change planes in Curaçao without a visa?

Yes, for an airport transit within 48 hours on an onward ticket. Haitian nationals are the exception and need a transit visa.

Can I go ashore from a cruise?

Yes. Cruise passengers whose ship stays in port for 48 hours or less do not need a visa.

My application was refused. What now?

The refusal letter for Curaçao sets out how to file an objection and by when.

May I take a job while visiting?

No. Employment needs a work permit, which the visitor visa does not replace.

Are approval rates for Pakistani applicants published?

No. Dutch and Curaçao authorities do not release them.
