From 1 January 2026, Pakistan is on Cabo Verde’s list of countries whose nationals must obtain an entry visa before arriving, together with a transit or airport stopover visa if they only pass through. Arriving without it means refusal of entry, transit or stopover. The official EASE notice tells travellers to contact the Cabo Verde embassy closest to their residence. The rule does not apply to Pakistanis holding a valid residence permit from an EU member state, Iceland, Liechtenstein, the United Kingdom, San Marino, Switzerland, the Vatican, Brazil, Canada or the United States that guarantees unconditional readmission.

Cabo Verde, the Atlantic archipelago off the coast of West Africa, is known for the beaches of Sal and Boa Vista and the volcanic landscape of Fogo. For Pakistani travellers, the entry rules changed at the start of 2026: from 1 January 2026, Pakistani nationals must obtain a visa before arriving.

The change is announced on EASE, the government’s platform for the efficient, automatic and safe entry of travellers. Its notice lists the countries whose nationals now need an entry visa, and also a transit or airport stopover visa, before arrival in Cabo Verde, under penalty of refusal of entry, transit or stopover. Pakistan is number 62 on that list of 91 countries.

To apply, EASE directs travellers to the Cabo Verde embassy closest to their place of residence. The notice and its country list do not publish a fee, a processing time or a document checklist for Pakistani applicants, so confirm those details with the embassy before you book flights or hotels, and leave enough time for the visa to be issued.

Important exemptions apply. A Pakistani who holds a valid residence permit from an EU member state, Iceland, Liechtenstein, the United Kingdom, San Marino, Switzerland or the Vatican, or from Brazil, Canada or the United States, does not need the advance visa, provided the permit guarantees unconditional readmission. Holders of a Cabo Verde foreigner’s residence permit (TRE) are exempt too.

Other exemptions cover aircraft crew, holders of recognised international laissez-passer documents, people born in Cabo Verde who took another nationality, with their spouses and children under 18, and Cabo Verde’s honorary consuls. Holders of diplomatic, official or service passports may receive an official, diplomatic or courtesy visa.

Checklist

Document requirements

  • Pakistani passport, valid for the whole trip
  • Cabo Verde entry visa obtained before travel from the Cabo Verde embassy closest to your residence (or a transit or airport stopover visa if you are only passing through)
  • Any supporting documents the embassy asks for when you apply
  • If you rely on an exemption: a valid residence permit from an EU member state, Iceland, Liechtenstein, the United Kingdom, San Marino, Switzerland, the Vatican, Brazil, Canada or the United States that guarantees unconditional readmission, or a valid Cabo Verde foreigner’s residence permit (TRE)

Pakistan is number 62 on the EASE list of countries subject to the advance visa rule in force since 1 January 2026. Exemptions also cover aircraft crew of Chicago Convention states, holders of recognised international laissez-passer documents, people born in Cabo Verde who later took foreign nationality (with their spouses and children under 18), and honorary consuls of Cabo Verde.
