Pakistani passport holders must have a Mauritius visa before they fly. The Passport and Immigration Office's current country list, updated in 2025, marks Pakistan as "visa required prior to travel", so the visa on arrival that many nationalities receive at the airport is not open to you. Apply through the Mauritius High Commission in Islamabad at least one month before your trip. The immigration office aims to decide complete applications within 12 working days. The visa itself is free under Mauritian rules, but the High Commission asks for a PKR 1,400 demand draft with your file. Do not travel until you have the result.
Turquoise lagoons, the beaches of Grand Baie and Flic en Flac, the waterfalls of Black River Gorges and the markets of Port Louis make Mauritius an island many people dream of visiting. For Pakistani travellers, the first step is a visa. The Passport and Immigration Office's 2025 country list marks Pakistan as "visa required prior to travel", so unlike many nationalities who are stamped in at the airport, you need the visa in your passport before you board.
Applications from Pakistan go through the Mauritius High Commission in Islamabad. Download the visa application form from the Passport and Immigration Office website, fill it in and sign it, then add a passport valid at least five months beyond your stay, two colour photos on a light background, a CNIC copy and a confirmed return ticket with its e-ticket number. The High Commission also wants six months of bank statements in your name with an account maintenance letter.
Accommodation is handled in a particular way. Either a hotel licensed by the Tourism Authority emails your booking confirmation directly to the High Commission, or your host in Mauritius sends an original invitation letter and a copy of their National Identity Card, both attested by their local police station, together with a recent utility bill. Business travellers add a letter from their Mauritian company or sponsor, and anyone going for religious work needs a social visa backed by a letter from the institution they will visit.
On cost, the official sources differ slightly. The Passport and Immigration Office says visas and extensions are free of charge, while the High Commission in Islamabad asks for a demand draft of PKR 1,400 in its name. Its page still carries older COVID-era wording, so check the current amount before you go to the bank. The Passport and Immigration Office aims to issue visas within 12 working days of a complete file and recommends applying at least a month before you travel.
Tourists can be allowed up to six months in a calendar year, case by case, and business visitors up to 120 days a year with a 90-day limit per trip. If you need longer, apply in person for a free extension at the Passport and Immigration Office in Port Louis before your visa ends. Mauritius does not publish an approval or refusal rate for Pakistani applicants, and the airport officer still makes the final decision, so carry your return ticket, bookings and bank papers when you land.

Quick answers
FAQ
Do Pakistanis need a visa for Mauritius?
Yes. The Passport and Immigration Office lists Pakistan as "visa required prior to travel" on its 2025 country list. You must get the visa through the Mauritius High Commission in Islamabad before you fly.
Can Pakistanis get a visa on arrival in Mauritius?
No. Many nationalities receive a visa on arrival, but Pakistan is not one of them. Anyone who arrives without a required visa may be sent back to their country of origin or residence at the airline’s cost.
How much does a Mauritius visa cost for Pakistanis?
The Mauritius High Commission in Islamabad asks for a PKR 1,400 demand draft drawn in its name and payable in Islamabad. The Passport and Immigration Office says the visa itself is free, so ask the High Commission to confirm the current charge before you buy the draft.
How long does the Mauritius visa take?
The Passport and Immigration Office aims to issue visas within 12 working days of receiving a complete application, and asks travellers to apply at least a month ahead. Missing documents will slow things down.
How should I show my hotel booking?
The High Commission wants the confirmation emailed straight from the hotel to mauripak@dsl.net.pk, and the hotel must be licensed by the Tourism Authority. Arrange this with your hotel before you submit your file.
Can a relative in Mauritius sponsor my visit?
Yes. Your host sends an original invitation or sponsorship letter with a copy of their National Identity Card, both attested by their local police station, plus a utility bill in their name that is no older than one month.
How long can I stay in Mauritius?
Tourists can be granted up to six months in a calendar year, decided case by case. Business visitors can spend up to 120 days a year, with no single trip longer than 90 days. The stay printed on your visa is the one that applies.
I am travelling for tabligh or other religious work. Which visa do I need?
Mauritius asks anyone travelling for religious purposes to obtain a social visa before travel. It is granted for up to 45 days to people sponsored by socio-cultural organisations, and you need a letter from the religious institution in Mauritius.
Can I extend my Mauritius visa?
Yes, by applying in person at the Passport and Immigration Office in Port Louis with an extension form, a copy of your passport bio page and arrival stamp, a ticket reservation and proof of accommodation. Extensions are free. Overstaying is an offence that can lead to prosecution.
What does the officer check when I land?
Every visitor must hold a passport valid beyond the stay, a return ticket, the right to go back to their home country, enough money for the trip, and a confirmed hotel booking or sponsor. The immigration officer at the airport has the final say, even if you hold a visa.
