Summary

eVisa
Visa type
Bahamas Electronic Entry Visa (visitor’s visa) issued before travel by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Stay limit
As granted by the immigration officer on arrival
Entries
Single entry (valid 3 months) or multiple entry (3 months, 6 months or 1 year)

Pakistan is on the Bahamas Ministry of Foreign Affairs list of countries whose citizens need a visa, and the Department of Immigration names Pakistan as one of the Commonwealth exceptions that do not enjoy visa-free entry. The visa must be issued before travel, normally as an Electronic Entry Visa (EEV) applied for on the ministry’s eVISA portal. Anyone who arrives without one is refused leave to land, and the rule also applies if you reach The Bahamas on a cruise from the United States.

The Bahamas, a chain of some 700 islands just off Florida, draws visitors for the pink sands of Harbour Island, the swimming pigs of Exuma and the reefs around Andros. Pakistani citizens need a Bahamian visa, issued in advance by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Two official sources agree. The Department of Immigration says British Commonwealth citizens may enter without a visa, except those of Pakistan, Cameroon, Mozambique, India, Nigeria and Ghana. The ministry’s own list of countries that need a visa also names Pakistan, and travellers who arrive without one are refused leave to land.

Applications go through the ministry’s Electronic Entry Visa portal. A self-sponsored visitor uploads a photo, passport pages, a recent job letter, a bank reference letter, a police report, a medical certificate, a hotel address and flight plan, all less than six months old.

The single-entry visitor’s visa costs $160, and multiple-entry visas cost $250 for three months, six months or one year. Fees are paid by card at the time of application and are not refunded. Standard processing is 7 to 10 business days, and some applicants are called for an interview.

On arrival you present the same passport and the Electronic Entry Visa. Officers expect a return ticket, enough funds and a completed embarkation card, and they decide how long you may stay. Visitors may not work, and any extension must be requested from the Department of Immigration.

Checklist

Document requirements

  • Pakistani passport with more than six months of validity
  • Online eVISA application, completed and signed application form
  • One digital passport photo meeting the eVISA photograph specifications
  • Scanned personal data and signature pages of the passport
  • Job letter less than six months old, or a valid business licence if self-employed
  • Original bank reference letter less than six months old
  • Police report less than six months old, translated into English where needed
  • Medical certificate less than six months old
  • Hotel, cruise or residence address in The Bahamas and proposed flight itinerary
  • Proof of legal status in your country of residence, if you live outside Pakistan
  • Copies of three previous Bahamas visas if requesting multiple entry
  • Card payment of the non-refundable fee ($160 single entry)

Pakistan is named twice in official Bahamian lists: as a Commonwealth country excluded from visa-free entry (with Cameroon, Mozambique, India, Nigeria and Ghana) and on the ministry’s list of countries that need a visa. The note on the eVISA page that lets holders of Schengen, UK, Canadian or US visas skip the Bahamas visa is printed under India’s entry, so do not rely on it for a Pakistani passport without confirming with the Visa Office.

Quick answers

FAQ

Do Pakistanis need a visa for the Bahamas?

Yes. Pakistan is on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs list of countries that need a visa, and the visa must be issued before you travel.

Are Pakistanis covered by the Commonwealth exemption?

No. Most Commonwealth citizens can visit without a visa, but the Department of Immigration lists Pakistan among the exceptions, together with India, Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon and Mozambique.

How do I apply?

Online through the ministry’s eVISA portal. You upload a digital photo and PDF documents, choose single or multiple entry, select a preferred visa office for any interview, and pay by card.

How much does a Bahamas visa cost?

$160 for a single-entry visitor’s visa and $250 for a multiple-entry visa of three months, six months or one year. A three-year visa costs $500 and is not available online. Fees are non-refundable.

How long does processing take?

The standard time is 7 to 10 business days once your documents are complete, unless an interview is required.

Will I need an interview?

Possibly. Interviews and fingerprinting, when required, take place at the visa office you chose as your preferred appointment. Bring the application form, confirmation page and original documents.

Why do I need a police report and a medical certificate?

They are on the ministry’s list of documents for self-sponsored visitor visas and must be less than six months old, translated into English where applicable.

Can someone in the Bahamas sponsor me?

Yes. A Sponsored Visitor Visa is for trips funded and guaranteed by a resident or legal entity in The Bahamas. The sponsor adds an invitation letter, passport, police record, bank letter, employment proof and a utility bill, and a $20 facilitation fee applies.

Do I need a visa for a cruise stop?

Yes. Citizens of visa-required countries need the visa even when entering The Bahamas by cruise ship from the United States.

What happens at the border?

Show the passport used for the application and your Electronic Entry Visa. You must have a return ticket, funds for your stay and a completed disembarkation card, and admission is still at the officer’s discretion.

Can I get multiple entries on my first visa?

The ministry asks for copies of three previous successful Bahamas visas to consider a multiple-entry visa, so first-time visitors should expect a single entry.

Is there an official approval rate for Pakistanis?

No. The Bahamas does not publish an approval or refusal rate for Pakistani applicants.
