Summary

eVisa
Visa type
Suriname tourist eVisa, applied for online before travel
Stay limit
Up to 90 days
Entries
Multiple entry (tourist visa valid 3 months or 1 year)

Pakistan is one of 21 countries named in the Government of Suriname’s entry instructions (effective 1 May 2023) whose passport holders face extra conditions, and the Immigration/Customs Form service lists Pakistan as “Yes, e-VISA Required”. Pakistanis therefore cannot use the Entry Fee voucher that most nationalities buy. Apply online for an eVisa on the official portal. On top of the usual documents, you must show a letter of guarantee or invitation from a registered company or a person in Suriname, and proof of a paid hotel reservation covering your whole stay.

Suriname, on the north-east shoulder of South America, mixes the Dutch colonial wooden city of Paramaribo, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with vast Amazon rainforest and the Central Suriname Nature Reserve. Pakistani passport holders need an e-Visa, applied for online before travel.

Since 1 May 2023 most visitors simply buy an Entry Fee voucher, but the government’s entry instructions single out 21 nationalities, including Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Nepal. The Immigration/Customs Form service confirms the result for each of them: “Yes, e-VISA Required”.

Those 21 nationalities must also present a letter of guarantee or invitation from a registered company or a person in Suriname, and proof of a paid hotel reservation covering the whole stay. All visitors need a passport valid six months beyond departure, sufficient funds and, where relevant, a yellow fever certificate.

Applications go through the official eVisa portal run by VFS Global for the government. A three-month multiple-entry tourist visa costs USD 60 and a one-year visa USD 210, each with a USD 18 service fee. Fees are non-refundable, and children pay the same as adults.

When the documents are in order, the visa is usually emailed as a PDF within 72 hours of payment, with no passport to send. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs decides on the visa, and the Immigration Service at the airport has the final word on entry.

Quick answers

FAQ

Do Pakistanis need a visa for Suriname?

Yes. Pakistan is among 21 countries whose passport holders need an e-Visa rather than the Entry Fee voucher, and must meet extra entry conditions.

Can Pakistanis use the Suriname Entry Fee instead?

No. The Entry Fee is for nationalities not on the visa list. The Immigration/Customs Form service marks Pakistan “Yes, e-VISA Required”.

What extra documents do Pakistanis need?

A letter of guarantee or invitation from a company registered with the Chamber of Commerce or a person in Suriname, and proof of a paid hotel reservation for the whole stay.

How much does a Suriname tourist visa cost?

The official eVisa portal lists USD 60 for a three-month multiple-entry tourist visa and USD 210 for a one-year visa, plus a USD 18 service fee. Fees are not refunded.

How long can I stay?

The tourist visas allow stays of up to 90 days. The three-month visa permits multiple entries during its validity.

How long does approval take?

Usually within 72 hours of payment, if all documents are correct. Contact the portal staff if it takes longer than five working days.

Do I need to send my passport?

No. The eVisa arrives by email as a PDF. Keep a copy to show when travelling.

Do children need their own visa?

Yes. All applicants, including infants and children, need a visa if their nationality requires one, and the fee is the same for every age.

How long must my passport be valid?

At least six months from the date you leave Suriname, with at least one blank page for the immigration officer.

Is a yellow fever vaccination required?

What if additional documents are requested?

Send them within 30 days. If you miss that deadline the eVisa is denied, you must start again and the fees are not refunded.

I hold two nationalities. Which passport should I use?

Apply with the passport you will use to travel and enter Suriname. The details on the eVisa must match that passport exactly.

Can my family apply together?
