As stated on the visa

The Government of Jersey states that visa nationals always need a visa to enter or visit Jersey, and Pakistan is on the UK Appendix Visitor visa national list that defines visa nationals. Pakistani passport holders therefore apply for a visit visa through the UK visa application process; the application is then sent to Jersey for a decision. A visit visa allows stays of up to six months, and Schengen visas are not valid in Jersey.

Jersey is the largest of the Channel Islands, just off the coast of Normandy, with granite castles at Mont Orgueil and Elizabeth, wide beaches at St Ouen, a busy harbour in St Helier and the wartime tunnels left from the German occupation. As a Crown Dependency it runs its own immigration decisions, though the rules line up with the UK.

For Pakistanis, the Government of Jersey is direct: visa nationals always need a visa to enter or visit, whatever the length of the trip. Pakistan is on the UK Appendix Visitor list of visa nationals, so a visit visa has to be in place before you leave home.

There is no separate Jersey website for the application. You use the UK visa process online, attend a visa application centre for fingerprints and a photo, and your file is then sent to Jersey, where officials decide it. GOV.UK lists £135 for a standard six-month visit visa, and Jersey confirms no health surcharge is due.

Jersey quotes five weeks for visitor visas, counted from the biometrics appointment, and lets you apply up to three months ahead. It warns travellers not to book until the visa is approved and the decision letter has arrived, because carriers may refuse boarding.

Since 23 April 2026 the Crown Dependencies have joined the UK ETA scheme, but that applies only to non-visa nationals and is no substitute for a visa. A Schengen visa is not valid either. On arrival you still need to satisfy the immigration officer that you are a genuine visitor.

Checklist

Document requirements

  • Pakistani passport
  • Online visit visa application through the UK visa process, with Jersey as the destination
  • Fee payment (Standard Visitor visa £135)
  • Fingerprints and photo at a visa application centre
  • Evidence you genuinely intend to visit and will leave at the end of the trip
  • Proof of enough money to support yourself
  • Travel plans and accommodation details

Pakistan is a visa national, so the new ETA for non-visa nationals (from 23 April 2026) does not apply; a visit visa is needed. Do not book travel until the visa is approved and you have the decision letter.

Quick answers

FAQ

Do Pakistanis need a visa for Jersey?

Yes. The Government of Jersey says visa nationals always need a visa to enter or visit, and Pakistan is on the UK visa national list.

Where do I apply?

Through the UK visa application process on GOV.UK. Your application is passed to Jersey, and the Jersey authorities make the decision.

How long does it take?

Jersey lists 5 weeks for a visitor visa, starting after your fingerprints and photo are taken at a visa application centre.

How early can I apply?

Up to three months before you travel. Jersey advises applying early because its processing includes extra steps.

How much does it cost?

GOV.UK lists £135 for a Standard Visitor visa of up to six months. Jersey adds that you do not pay the UK Immigration Health Surcharge.

Can I use my Schengen visa?

No. Schengen visas are not valid in Jersey.

Does the new ETA apply to me?

No. Since 23 April 2026 the ETA is for non-visa nationals. Pakistanis are visa nationals and need a full visit visa instead.

How long can I stay?

A visit can last up to six months.

What must I show on the application?

That you genuinely intend to visit, will leave at the end, have enough money, will not make Jersey your main home and will not work, study or marry there.

Does a visa guarantee entry?

No. The immigration officer can still question you, check documents and refuse entry if the visitor rules are not met.

When should I book flights or ferries?

Only after the visa is approved and you have received your decision letter. Jersey warns you may be refused boarding otherwise.

Can I switch to another visa while in Jersey?

No. Visitors cannot change into any other immigration category while in Jersey.

Does my UK visa cover Jersey?

The Government of Jersey says people with immigration permission to visit the UK, Guernsey or the Isle of Man do not need another visa to visit Jersey, though working there needs a separate Jersey work permit.

Do children need their own visa?

Yes. Jersey says the visa rules apply to all passengers regardless of age, so every child on a Pakistani passport needs a visa too.

What if I arrive from outside the Common Travel Area?

You must carry a valid passport. That applies whether you come by air or by sea from France or anywhere else outside the CTA, unless you hold settled or pre-settled status.

Is there an official refusal rate?

No separate figures are published for Jersey visit visas.
