Summary

Embassy visa required
Visa type
UK Standard Visitor visa (application referred to Guernsey for a decision)
Stay limit
Up to 6 months
Entries
As stated on the visa

Under UK rules Pakistani citizens are visa nationals (they appear in the Appendix Visitor visa national list), and the Bailiwick of Guernsey keeps the same immigration controls as the rest of the Common Travel Area, so Pakistani visitors need a visa. There is no separate Guernsey visit visa: you apply online to UK Visas and Immigration for a Standard Visitor visa, state the Bailiwick of Guernsey as your destination, and the application is referred to the Guernsey Immigration Office for a decision. An existing UK visit visa also covers a visit to Guernsey.

Guernsey lies in the English Channel about 50 kilometres west of the Cotentin peninsula, with St Peter Port, its harbour capital, facing the smaller islands of Herm and Sark. Together with Alderney, Sark and Herm it forms the Bailiwick of Guernsey, a Crown Dependency with its own government and its own immigration office, though not part of the United Kingdom itself.

For entry purposes the Bailiwick sits inside the Common Travel Area with the UK, Ireland, Jersey and the Isle of Man, and it keeps the same standard of immigration controls. Pakistani passport holders are visa nationals under UK rules, so a visit visa is needed before travel.

There is no separate Guernsey visa. Visitors apply online to UK Visas and Immigration for a Standard Visitor visa and name the Bailiwick as their destination; the application is then referred to the Guernsey Immigration Office, which makes the decision. The fee shown on GOV.UK is £135 for stays of up to 6 months.

If you already hold a UK visit visa, it also lets you visit Guernsey and the other Crown Dependencies. From 1 July 2026 new Guernsey visas are recorded as a digital permission instead of a passport sticker, and the island sends a Notification of Entry Clearance letter that you should carry with your passport.

Visitors cannot work or switch into another immigration category while on the island. Guernsey asks travellers to hold off on flights and ferries until a decision arrives, since arriving without the correct permission may lead to refusal of entry. The Immigration and Nationality Division in St Peter Port answers questions about which visa fits your plans.

Checklist

Document requirements

  • Pakistani passport
  • Online Standard Visitor visa application to UK Visas and Immigration, naming the Bailiwick of Guernsey as the destination
  • Visa fee (£135 for a Standard Visitor visa of up to 6 months)
  • Fingerprints and photo at a biometric enrolment location you select in the application
  • Evidence supporting the purpose of the visit, as requested in the online form
  • Notification of Entry Clearance letter (for visas granted from 1 July 2026) carried with your passport when you travel

Pakistan is a visa national under UK rules, so the Electronic Travel Authorisation that Guernsey has required from non-visa nationals since 23 April 2026 is not the right route; a visit visa is needed. Guernsey advises waiting for approval before you book travel.

Quick answers

FAQ

Do Pakistanis need a visa for Guernsey?

Yes. Pakistani citizens are visa nationals under UK rules, and Guernsey applies the same immigration controls as the rest of the Common Travel Area, so you need a visit visa before you travel.

Is there a separate Guernsey visa?

No. The Guernsey guidance says there is no separate visa for the Bailiwick. You apply for the UK Standard Visitor visa, and that visa allows entry into the whole of the United Kingdom and Islands.

Who decides my application?

When you name the Bailiwick of Guernsey as your destination, the application made online to UK Visas and Immigration is referred to the Guernsey Immigration Office, which makes the decision.

What is the fee?

The Standard Visitor visa costs £135 on GOV.UK and allows visits of up to 6 months. If you expect to come back often, the long-term versions cost £506 (2 years) or £903 (5 years).

I already have a UK visit visa. Can I visit Guernsey with it?

Yes. The States of Guernsey says a UK visit visa also allows you to visit the Bailiwick and the other Crown Dependencies, Jersey and the Isle of Man.

Can I use the new Electronic Travel Authorisation?

No. Since 23 April 2026 Guernsey has asked non-visa nationals for an ETA. As a Pakistani citizen you fall under the visa rules, so the ETA is not available and a visit visa is required.

Will I get a sticker in my passport?

Not for visas granted from 1 July 2026. Guernsey now records the permission digitally and sends a Notification of Entry Clearance letter with your visa details. Keep it with your passport and carry it whenever you travel.

Is it safe to book my tickets early?

Wait for the decision. Guernsey advises against booking travel before approval, and arriving without the right visa may lead to refusal of entry and removal to where you came from.

Can I change my status after arriving as a visitor?

No. The Guernsey guidance says that if you are here as a visitor with a prohibition on employment, you cannot apply in the island to vary your immigration conditions.

Which islands does the visa cover?

The Bailiwick of Guernsey includes Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and Herm, and the Standard Visitor visa covers the United Kingdom and all three Crown Dependencies.

Can I come to Guernsey to get married?

A marriage or civil partnership during a visit needs the Marriage Visitor visa rather than the Standard Visitor visa, and you must not plan to stay or settle afterwards.

Who can I contact with questions?

The Guernsey Immigration and Nationality Division at New Jetty, White Rock, St Peter Port, on +44 1481 221420 or immigration@gcis.gov.gg. It can advise which visa type fits your trip.
