Bali, Jakarta and Lombok attract many Pakistani holidaymakers, and the most searched question is whether a visa on arrival is possible. According to Indonesia's official e-Visa portal, it is not available to Pakistani passport holders. When the portal's visa selector is run with Pakistan as the passport and tourism as the purpose, it offers the C1 Tourist Single Entry Visitor Visa and D1 Tourist Multiple Entry visas, but not the B1 Visa on Arrival or the electronic e-VOA it lists for some other nationalities. That means the visa has to be issued before you fly.

You can check this yourself. Open evisa.imigrasi.go.id, choose the visa selection tool, select Pakistan, then pick the general, family or social purpose and the tourism, family visit and transit sub-purpose. If the B1 visa on arrival is missing from the results, your passport is not eligible for it. Policies can change, so run the selector again close to your travel date.

For a single holiday, C1 is the simpler choice. It covers tourism, visiting friends or family, transit and attending meetings or exhibitions as a participant. It does not allow profit-making activity or speaking at events, and the portal stresses that the window to enter and the length of stay are different things. The portal asks for a passport with enough validity, a recent colour photo and a personal bank statement in your own name showing the minimum balance it specifies. D1 suits people with regular family or business links to Indonesia and also asks for a supporting letter or family statement, a CV and an itinerary.

The application runs in stages: create an account and upload your documents, pay, then download the e-Visa from the email link once approved. Payment is through SIMPONI, Indonesia's state payment system, or by Mastercard, Visa or JCB card, and card issuers may add charges. Confirm the exact fee on the payment screen and pay only on imigrasi.go.id domains. Incomplete applications take longer, and Indonesian public holidays can slow processing.

Before departure, every traveller must also submit an arrival card through the official All Indonesia service in the short window before arriving. At immigration, carry your e-Visa printout, passport and onward ticket, and be ready to show you can support yourself. C1 can be extended through the portal's Extend My Visa service, but apply before your current stay permit expires, because overstaying can bring fines or deportation.

Be wary of agents selling visa on arrival letters for Pakistani passports; the only products are those shown on the Imigrasi portal.
